When to shut it off and call
If you smell gas, leave the building without operating switches or creating a flame. From a safe location, contact the gas utility or emergency services first. If a carbon-monoxide alarm activates, leave the property and contact emergency services.

Thermostat batteries, a tripped breaker, the furnace switch, and the filter. If those are fine, stop there — the rest is our job. The full safe checklist is in our no-heat guide.
Gas or oil — do you work on both?
Yes — gas furnaces, oil furnaces, and the dual-fuel setups common in older Bucks and Berks homes.
When is repair not worth it?
Past about 15-18 years, or when a heat exchanger or a repair bill approaches half the cost of new — we will show you both numbers either way.
Is a cracked heat exchanger really that serious?
Yes — it can leak combustion gases into your air. If we find one, we will show you and talk through options straight, not scare you into a sale.
